Queen Charlotte’s Birthday Ball
The next fort event will be Queen Charlotte’s Birthday Ball on January 19th, a day-long celebration of music, food and dance. This year, for the 200th anniversary of the commencement of the Peninsular War, the theme is Portugal and the Anglo-Portuguese alliance. Join us for English Country Dancing, a Port Tasting and a wonderful Georgian dinner (buffet-style) featuring Portuguese influenced recipes found in early nineteenth century British cookery books. The volunteer historic cooks have been busy testing and sampling recipes and the results have been delicious! See page 8 of the newsletter for more information.
