Nightwood Theatre, “The Lawyer Show 2012″: June 7 – 9

Nightwood Theatre is proud to present the third annual Lawyer Show. This unique event, which will raise vital funds for Nightwood, sees a cast of 35lawyers on stage performing in William Shakespeare’s comedy, Much Ado About Nothing. Directed by Lawyer Show masterclass instructor Christine Brubaker, along with Nightwood’s Artistic Director, Kelly Thornton and the Associate Artistic Producer, Michelle Alexander. Nightwood Theatre is thrilled to be partnering with Toronto’s legal community on this annual fundraising initiative.

OCAD University will launch Toronto’s art auction season with its third annual Project 31 fundraiser in support of art and design students and programs.

One of the city’s most accessible art collecting events, Project 31 is a live art auction, held on Thursday, March 29, offering up stunning paintings, photography, limited edition prints, sculpture, textiles and fibre, illustration, jewellery and digital media by OCAD U’s talented faculty members, and a few specially invited guests. Steam Whistle Brewing, “Staff & Friends Charity Art Show”: Opening January 11

image002.jpgSteam Whistle Brewing will be hosting a “Staff & Friends Charity Art Show” in collaboration with The Toronto Humane Society which will be celebrating the organization’s 125th anniversary. All of the art displayed will be donated from Steam Whistle Brewing Staff, and the Humane Society Staff and volunteers. There will be also be a silent auction held of which 100% of the proceeds will go directly to The Toronto Humane Society. Drum Artz Canada (DAC) is proud to present a photo exhibit by the children and youth of Toronto’s Samba Kidz at their Gallery Fundraiser: Better Together. The event will take place on Wednesday May 4 at Thrush Holmes Empire, a slick gallery space on Toronto’s artsy Queen Street West.

Founded in 2005, Samba Kidz is a multi-arts outreach program that provides young people aged 7 to 15 with professional training in world music, percussion, visual arts, theatre, performance and youth leadership. The ALS Society of Canada is hosting the exclusive opening night of the stage version of Tuesdays with Morrie at the Winter Garden Theatre, Toronto, on Friday May 8, 2009, at 8:15 p.m. This “must see” play is adapted from the New York Times best-selling memoir by Mitch Albom, which sold more than 11 million copies.
