Modern Times Stage Company and Common Plants invite you to the final presentation of The Acting Workshop
Saturday July 7th 2007, at 7:00 p.m.
This year’s workshop is focused on the theme of “Homeâ€. Eight participants from diverse cultural backgrounds were asked to chose or write a short monologue, poem, or bring in a movement piece on the subject of “Homeâ€. Working within the framework of their chosen text, the students were led through a series of explorations with music, movement and text inspired by a mixture of theatrical techniques. More »

Leon Saul’s CURSE OF HAM grabs you when arguments of homosexuality, incest and skin-colour arise, which present new thinking about the world’s first dysfunctional family after the Great Flood. The 90-minute play also challenges the modern day mentalities on the issue of racial differences.

Now in its 13th season, Dusk Dances is an outdoor dance festival that brings an array of high quality contemporary and traditional dance to public parks. As dusk descends, a theatrical host ushers the audience – which invariably includes children, dog walkers and local residents – to five eclectic dance pieces that unfold in different areas of the park. Dusk Dances presents seven different programs in locations spread throughout Ontario between June 21 and August 5, including six Toronto performances July 10-15 in Withrow Park (south of the Danforth between Logan and Carlaw).
