Since 2003, Stan’s Cafe has brought this show to over 40 cities around the world, including Europe, Australia, and North America – this marks the first visit to Toronto. The show adapts to its setting: the country, city and building in which it is performed. From 15-tonnes of rice, the team of performers carefully weighs out quantities of rice, each grain representing a single person, to elucidate various human populations and statistics. More »

The Marriage of Anansewa (1975) is a finely crafted play by Ghanaian playwright Efua Sutherland that celebrates the famed wiles of Ananse, the West African spider man storyteller. In The Marriage of Anansewa, Ananse represents a kind of Everyman, artistically exaggerated and distorted to serve society as a medium for self-examination.
