Sampradaya Dance Creations, “Samvad”: October 23, 24
SAMPRADAYA Dance Creations is pleased to present SAMVAD on October 23 & 24 as part of Harbourfront Centre’s Next Steps series at the Enwave Theatre. SAMVAD includes two works. the title piece SAMVAD and Lata Pada’s VIVARTA, choreographed by Sampradaya’s Artistic Director Lata Pada.
The world premiere of SAMVAD is an inter-disciplinary confluence of dance, music, storytelling and visual arts from three ‘earth’ cultures, created and performed by three talented Canadian artists from South Asian, First Nations and African-Caribbean cultural backgrounds under the mentorship of three senior artists from those traditions. 2009 Toronto Zombie Walk: October 24
When Hell is full the dead shall walk the earth.
Hell must be full because on October 24th, 2009 the dead shall rise again, taking over the streets of downtown Toronto.
In 2003 the underground opened up… literally. The skies were a desolate, and a moaning grey, the day appropriately a week before hallows eve in 2003. A handful of the living dead slowly clawed through the earth and rose from their graves to wander the streets of Toronto in search of sustenance in the form of human brains. More »
Planet in Focus Film Fest: October 21 – 25
The 10th anniversary of the Planet in Focus International Environmental Film & Video Festival, Canada’s premiere environmental film festival, runs October 21 to October 25 in Toronto.
Over 85 outstanding and compelling films and videos from 25 countries – documentaries and dramatic, animated, and experimental works of all lengths – created by Canadian and international filmmakers on key environmental themes will be screened at the Royal Cinema, Bloor Cinema, Gardiner Museum, The Bata Shoe Museum, Innis College, Arta Gallery and the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM).
