Théâtre français de Toronto, one-act plays: Dec 2 – 12

Djennie Laguerre in her acclaimed one-woman show Rendez-vous Lakay Théâtre français de Toronto (TfT) is proud to present Le Domestique (The Servant) and Les Noirs sont heureux (Black people Are Happy) by Martin-David Peters and Rendez-vous Lakay (Rendez-vous with Home) by Djennie Laguerre. An original TfT production, the three one-act pieces will be directed by Sara Rénélik and Guy Mignault, TfT’s artistic director. CP Salon: Ryerson, Nov 28 and York, Dec 4

For the last segment of its Toronto Campus Fall 2009 Tour, Good Hair Day Productions is bringing CP Salon to Ryerson University at the National Ballet School on Saturday, November 28 at 8pm, and to York University’s Joseph G. Green Theatre on Friday, December 4 at 7 pm.

The show, featuring singer/storyteller Kazumi Tsuruoka and pianist Tania Gill, uses rhythm and blues to tell the love story of a man with cerebral palsy. The 50-minute music-driven piece, produced and directed by Fides Krucker of Good Hair Day Productions, premiered in Toronto and has toured to Vancouver, Regina and Whitehorse. More »

Art of Time, “Brasil”: December 4 & 5

Following its two sold out shows of Abbey Road last month, the Art of Time Ensemble, under the artistic direction of founder Andrew Burashko, presents Brasil, a beautiful and eclectic program of Brazilian music from three musical perspectives on December 4 and December 5 at Harbourfront Centre’s Enwave Theatre featuring Bachianas Brasileiras #1 (for 8 cellos) by Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887-1959), songs by Antonio Carlos Jobim (1927-1994) sung by Canadian jazz vocalist extraordinaire Emily-Claire Barlow and a set of songs and compositions performed by Rio de Janeiro’s legendary Guinga. Sponsored by BMO Financial and Cadillac Fairview, the concert will be recorded by CBC Radio for future broadcast. More »
