Lower Ossington Theatre, “Spring Awakening”: Sept 21 – October 8
The Lower Ossington Theatre (The LOT), will be opening their first season with the Canadian premiere of “Spring Awakening” directed by Michael Rubenstein. This performance will be presented on stage at The Lower Ossington
Theatre, located at 100A Ossington Avenue. The dates and times for the performance are as followed: September 21, 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, 30, October 1, 5, 6, 7 and 8 at 8pm. As well, there will be a 4PM matinee performance on September 25 and October 2. More »
Steam Whistle’s UNSIGNED Indie Music Concert: September 30
Steam Whistle is passionate about doing one thing really, really well leading to hosting events such as the UNSIGNED concert series (now in fourth year running). The September 30thshow hosted in the brewery’s Beer Hall will feature Bonjay’shigh-energy sound system of bass and soul, a stripped-down electro-shoegazePowers, and HotKid’sshake me, move me rock’n roll. Doors open at 8pm and tickets are only $5 at the door with all proceeds from ticket sales going back to the community through the Artists’ Health Centre Foundation. More »
Toronto Palestine Film Festival: Sept 30 – Oct 7
From September 30-October 7, 2011, TPFF will screen 24 films by Palestinian and international filmmakers. The festival will debut 11 Canadian premieres, 9 North American premieres and 3 Toronto premieres. “The stories of women feature prominently in this year’s selection of films,” stated festival programmer Dania Majid. Ahuri Theatre, “A Fool’s Life”: Sept 30 – Oct 8
Ahuri Theatre, in association with Why Not Theatre, announces the world premiere of A Fool’s Life, a fantastical tale of a family man coming undone, conceived and directed by Ahuri Theatre Artistic Director Dan Watson. Inspired by the life and work of celebrated Japanese writer Akutagawa Ryunosuke, regarded as the “father of the Japanese short story,” A Fool’s Life opens September 30 and runs to October 8 at The Theatre Centre, with a preview on September 29. The Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre will also present a version of the play on September 23. More »
