Water On The Table kicks off the Premier of the MINT Film Festival
March 10th, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Award-winning documentary Water On The Table screens at the Toronto Dollar’s MINT FILM FESTIVAL at Rainbow Cinemas, March 10th 2011. Pre-screening events begin at 6:00 pm in the lobby of Rainbow Cinemas with the screening festival program starting at 7:00 pm sharp. Tickets are $10 at the door, $9 in advance and $7 for students and seniors. The inaugural MINT Film Festival is co-hosted by The Toronto Dollar, The Council Of Canadians and The Polaris Institute of Canada. Toronto filmmaker Liz Marshall will be attendance and will speak about the making of her movie and also answer questions from the audience.

The MINT Film festival is a new monthly Toronto event at Rainbow Cinemas Market Square that features thought provoking inspiring films that connect directors, activists and community members through proactive discussions. Each month a feature and short film will be screened, and each month a special guest will introduce the event and facilitate a group discussion focused on the theme of the film.

On March 10th, 2011 actor/activist Derek Forgie is the MINT Film Festival’s first guest speaker representing the Polaris Institute. On the auspicious anniversary of Bottle Water Free Day, Derek will deliver an abbreviated version of his acclaimed “Inside The Bottle” presentation which is a biting, light-hearted and lambasting take on the bottled water industry. For 4 years Derek Forgie has been the warm-up act for MTV Canada.

Liz Marshall, the director of Water On The Table, will be the MINT Festival’s second guest speaker of the evening. She will discuss the making of her film Water On The Table, a documentary that follows Canadian water-warrior Maude Barlow in her quest to have the UN declare water a human right.

Water On The Table was nominated for the Donald Brittain Award for best social political documentary at the 2010 GEMINI AWARDS. Water On The Table won for Best Canadian Feature Film at the 11th Annual Planet in Focus Environmental Film Festival. Water On The Table is also the 2010 Featured Canadian Film for Cinema Politica.
