AGH, “Is Art the Future?”: October 8
Researchers say creativity enhances learning but school art programmes continue to diminish. Join us on Thursday, October 8 at 7:00 pm as the Art Gallery of Hamilton’s TNT (Thursday Night Talks) presents Frill or Competitive Edge: Is Art the Future? at the AGH, 123 King Street West, downtown Hamilton.
Despite a cry from our business leaders for creative thinkers in the workplace, a Teacher’s College programme south of the border claims that “art is not a real subject.” Education cuts continue to devastate school art programmes, with less energy and attention devoted to creativity and expression. Yet research tells us, again and again, that the arts allow students to flourish in all subjects, and that students who have been encouraged to work and learn creatively grow up to be successful in many different fields. Please join our panel of experts from the fields of education, business and technology as we ask: is art the future?
Tickets are $6 for AGH Members, $10 for Students and Seniors and $12 for Non-Members. Tickets may be reserved by calling 905-527-6610, ext. 272, at the Gallery’s Front Desk during Gallery hours or online at www.artgalleryofhamilton.com.
