Theatre Aquarius, “Best of Fringe 2009″: October 22 – 30
Theatre Aquarius Presents The Best of Fringe 2009 Hamilton, ON, September 8, 2009 – Theatre Aquarius is proud to announce that they will be presenting The Best of the Fringe 2009 as the opening production of the Stagewrite Series this October. This unique collaboration between Theatre Aquarius and the Hamilton Fringe Festival will see An Evening with Nicholas Wallace (Practitioner of the Art of Astonishment) and Laund-O-Mat at the End of the World performed as a double bill for a limited run of 11 performances.
“This is a unique opportunity for Theatre Aquarius to partner with the Fringe and bring some very talented artists to a
different audience”, enthuses Theatre Aquarius’ Artistic Director Ron Ulrich. “Theatre goers are in for a real treat by
getting two completely different yet wonderful shows!” An Evening with Nicholas Wallace was the runaway hit of
the Fringe with the highest overall attendance and box office and saw many disappointed people turned away at the door.
Nick Wallace invites audiences to an evening of interactive theatre, featuring turn of the century variety acts that have
been lost in time. Astonishing feats of Magic, Mind reading and Ghost stories inside a traveling tent-show from the past.
A one-man show with a cast of 100 – (that includes you!).
The second show on the double bill is Laund-O-Mat at the End of the World, presented by Quarter to Nine Productions. This one-act play tells the story of two strangers who meet at the laundry mat one Friday. Carmella, a woman torn by her situation in life who is on the lookout for signs from above, is going about her Friday routine at the laundromat when she meets Brian, a stranger who believes the world is going to end. The production stars Grimsby native Shari Vandermolen and Hamilton’s Michael Hannigan and was written by Peter Gruner. Laund-O-Mat was Ron Ulrich’s pick of the Fringe.
The Best of Fringe will be performed from October 22 – 30 in the Norman and Louise Haac Studio Theatre at Theatre Aquarius, Dofasco Centre for the Arts, at 190 King William Street, Hamilton, ON, L8R 1A8. Opening night is October 24, 2009.
