Theatre Aquarius is pleased to present Toronto, Mississippi in a co-production with the Playhouse Theatre Company, Vancouver. Written by Governor General Award-winning playwright Joan MacLeod, this heartfelt family drama is about Jhana, a mentally challenged girl who, like any teenager, tries to decipher a complicated adult world. When Jhana’s father, an Elvis impersonator, returns after a long absence, her unusual family is thrust into action. Beautifully, humorously, and touchingly exploring themes of mental disability, abandonment, love, and lust, Toronto, Mississippi is a Canadian gem.

Toronto, Mississippi is directed by Dean Paul Gibson, and stars Meg Roe as Jhana, William MacDonald as King, Colleen Wheeler as Maddie, and Alessandro Juliani (from television’s Battlestar Galactica) as Bill.

Toronto, Mississippi will be performed from January 21 – February 7, 2009 at Theatre Aquarius Dofasco Centre for the Arts, 190 King William Street, Hamilton, ON, L8R 1A8.  Preview shows are January 21-22, and opening night will be on January 23.
