Following on the heels of the first two successful shows in the "Wrecking Ball" series, "At the Wrecking Ball III" is an evening of short works by 11 of Toronto's best and brightest emerging dance artists and their interdisciplinary collaborators.
The show features choreography by the Burnt Toast Assassin Clan (Kate Franklin, Tina Fushell and Samm Higgison), Jonathan Osborn, Andrya Duff and six others.
AE's mandate is to promote the work of emerging artists and to encourage and facilitate collaboration between artists of different disciplines. The dance artists featured this year in "At the Wrecking Ball III" will be combining dance with video, theatre, original score, text, original set pieces and martial arts.
AE has commissioned Samm Higgison to create an original set, to be used by two different dance artists, Jonathan Osborn and Andrya Duff. The Burnt Toast Assassin Clan will also show work using the same set. The Burnt Toast Assassin Clan (B-TAC) is a sub-cell of AE consisting of AE's administrative members.
The B-Tac will present a solo performance by Tina Fushell, called "Abundance", as well as three excerpts of Samm Higgison's full-length multi-media, story-telling work "Personal Magical Fishbowl".
This year the "Super Special Mission Experiment" has been stepped up. The choreographic genius of both Andrya Duff and Jonathan Osborn will be put to the test interpreting an otherworldly set design by media-spanning boy wonder Samm Higgison.

In addition, six dance artists chosen through a submissions process will be showing work on two different programs. These artists are Nancy Latham, Ji-hye Ko, Shawn Newman, Susanne Chui, Mary Beth MacMillan and Alana Elmer.
Nancy Latham will deliver her characteristic athletic style, set to an original score by Jeff Chatten, with its unique emphasis on spatial relationships and quirky, fluid rhythms.
Alana Elmer and award winning videographer Justin Harding present the unique opportunity of witnessing the development of a soulful duet between an on-stage dancer and her on-screen counterpart.
Shawn Newman and Robert Gontier will work collaboratively on a promising experiment. Shawn, a choreographer, will push himself into the world of theatre, inversely Robert an actor, will take on movement. The results undertake to showcase the best of what this combination has to offer.
Susanne Chui's intimate and honest delivery of spoken text combined with her own elegant and stunning solo material; guide us through her dance inspired by Robert Frost's poem The Road Not Taken.
Mary-Beth McMillian offers up an explosive exploration of personal relationships. Her original choreography, the video sight-scaping of Samm Higgison and the honed musical execution of Jeremy Mimnagh all converge on a strong, clear, singular voice.
Ji Hye Ko will put the skills of nine dancers to work, building a surreal set of characters which incorporate theatrical elements and martial arts.
