Groundwater is the story of two girls and the refuge they aspire to build underground.
Written by company member Erin Shields (Toronto), with an original soundscape by Joe Lapinski, Groundwater's design team includes Tyler Sainsbury, Whitney Sellors, Lara Eggleton, Sergio Forest.
Groundwater is a dark take on our future explores the consequences of our over-consumption. Jeanne and Matilda live in a world that seems hopeless.
Jeanne, a young woman from the city who is distraught by the capture of her father and the threat of being quarantined escapes into the sewers and discovers an underground lake. She keeps her sanctuary a secret and prepares for the arrival of family and friends.
Enter Matilda, a young woman from the margin camps, she finds Jeanne's space while looking for food and water. Jeanne captures Matilda and befriends her. In an attempt to find hope the two begin to construct a utopia underground together.
Through innovative theatrical technique and experimental approaches the collective presents the second development of Groundwater this spring in St. Catharines and Toronto.

Suitcase in Point Theatre Company moved the imagination of audiences with their recent success, Be Wearing Wolf, at Toronto's Harbourfront Centre March 2004. The show has sold out around the Golden Horseshoe.
Over the last four years, this ten body collaboration has performed excitingly creative multi-disciplinary cabarets, including their recent premiere, A Junky's Cabaret. They are known for other wild dance parties and events that work at bringing the St. Catharines' community together. Up and coming is their rock tour of A Junky's Cabaret in bars around Southern Ontario culminating in a special performance in Guleph with Toronto-based band, The Williams.
