Landsdale and Beasley Barbeques: June 28
June 28, Landsdale Area Neighbourhood Association declared a cleanup day in J.C. Beemer Park and three churches in the neighbourhood. There was supposed to be a yard sale, and Judith and I planned to rent a table and get rid of some stuff. But at 2 a.m., there was a ferocious thunderstorm and in the morning a dreary, socked-in rain. So the tables were cancelled, but the cleanup went on Judith and I helped a classy and indefatigable woman named Bea weed and plant the garden at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian on Tisdale. Afterwards, we had classic hot dogs, just like at the CNE in my childhood, at J.C. Beemer Park.
Next week is the annual LANA Summer in the Park even at J.C. Beemer, with lots of entertainment (that I’m helping to organize) and the delayed lawn sale.
Right after the LANA cleanup, we went west to where the Beasley neighbourhood was having their 2nd annual barbeque in Beasley Park. The highlight, apart from the tent over the hot dogs almost blowing away, was the Hamilton Youth Steel Orchestra, playing with wonderful precision and clarity, despite the wind that kept sending sheet music skittering away.

Added on January 2nd, 2009 at 12:08 pmHello Ron and Judith,
I just came across these the photos from the Beasley Neighbourhood Association Barbeque. The photos are great but your information is wrong. The Beasley Neighbourhood Association were the planners of the barbeque. The Recreation Department partnered with us and supplied the chess men and soopys for the children but all the rest was taken care of by Beasley Neighbourhood Association. We supplied all of the food, entertainment, DJ, and organizations that set up their information. think you should have talked to someone and did a little more homework before writing comments about who organized everything. The main organizers were:
Isabel Sardella- President BN4N
Matt Thompson-Vise President BN4N
Jeannette Eby-Secretary BN4N
Bill Samone- Treasuer
Charlie Matina
Yours truly,
Isabel Sardella- President
Beasley Neighbourhood Association
