In quarantine? Watch live UK Theatre (RSC and NT) starting April 2!

A mid-May update: still in self-quarantine in Hamilton, as is everyone we know. And meanwhile some incredible major theatre and opera companies have added to the treats offered on line. Some examples: Stratford Festival in Ontario is releasing some major archives (Coriolanus, directed by Robert Lepage), the Royal Opera House, London UK (Cosi Fan Tutte directed by the late Jonathan Miller)… Some are free only for a limited time. Others have a small price.

Ron and Judith love going to London UK to watch wonderful theatre (in fact, we try to get there once or twice a year for our theatre binge). But not this summer 2020. However, here is what arrived by email a day or two ago.

#1 The RSC Royal Shakespeare Company (Stratford-upon-Avon):
“Watch RSC on demand: Our theatres may be temporarily closed, but you can watch lots of fantastic RSC shows for free with Marquee TV. Arts lovers can now sign up for a 30-day free trial on Marquee TV, the performing arts streaming service with a catalogue of more than 400 dance, opera and theatre productions. There are currently 17 of our shows to stream, including Richard II and King Lear with David Tennant and Antony Sher in the title roles, respectively.  “Nothing can replace the experience of seeing a play live on stage. But with our theatres currently closed, and all of us spending much more time at home, we are pleased to be part of this initiative… bringing us together virtually at a time when many of us will be apart.” Gregory Doran, Artistic Director
