In this adaptation of the classic short story, a young mother's depression takes on a life of its own despite the careful prescriptions of her physician husband. Confined to the company of her own mind, a mysterious figure begins to inhabit her solitary convalescence. With feverish determination she sets out to uncover the fate of this shadowy woman who appears to be trapped behind the faded wallpaper of her room. A dark and humorous meditation on marriage, madness and the medical profession: Stranger Theatre invites you to enter into an insanity with its own frightening logic.

Stranger Theatre is a Toronto/Halifax based feminist theatre company interested in playful methods of storytelling.
