Latin Jazz with vocalist Elizabeth Rodriguez and band, Sat June 11

Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 8 pm, $10 reg / $5 students. We are pleased to have this wonderful jazz performer back at Artword Artbar — Cuban vocalist and violinist Elizabeth Rodriguez and her band Eli’s Quartet. Band members: Elizabeth Rodriguez voice and violin, Jose Hernandez drums, Devin Patten bass, John Imre piano. Elizabeth will perform some Cuban classics, a lot of Brazilian tunes, including Antonio Carlos (Tom) Jobim songs, and American jazz standards with some Latin arrangements.
She has recently returned to Canada after an absence of a year and a half. Since then she has been working with noted jazz musician Jane Bunnett, and just finished collaborating with her on a new CD. Elizabeth also just came back from Chicago where she had my first presentation with Jane Bunnett and the Cuban band Maqueque.
