Latin music: Fito Molina and Jorge Gavidia, Thurs July 7

Fito Molina and Jorge Gavidia are two Latino musicians who fuse the traditional folk sounds of Latin America with the Afro-Caribbean heritage and some hints of jazz. Together they bring a repertoire that will take you on a journey through the different regions of this big continent.
Fito Molina started his career as a musician in his native El Salvador. He was a member of Cayaguanca, a band that focused on Central American traditional music and which performed throughout Costa Rica and Panama. In Canada, he plays with several Latin American bands and is also known as a songwriter whose lyrics speak of social issues and personal experiences. www.fitomolina.com
Jorge Gavidia is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, tres, mandolin, piano and upright bass), performer, teacher and composer who specializes in jazz and Latin music. He has played in many different bands in genres including jazz, Latin, rock, folk, blues, hip hop and electronic music. He is currently living in Toronto and is active as a guitar and theory teacher. He also performs on the guitar and cuban tres in his own jazz quartet, is the leader of the band Storyville Project, and is also part of a duo with vocalist Sarah Begin. http://www.jorgegavidiamusic.com
