The Sharbat Trio: three top Canadian musicians: tabla virtuoso Ravi Naimpally, multi-instrumentalist Waleed Abdulhamid and vocalist Samidha Joglekar.  Inspired by music of both the South Asian and African diaspora, this incredible trio are creating a new cross-cultural blend of soulful sounds.
Sharbat, a word shared between the languages of India and Africa, describes a cool, sweet, refreshing drink made from fruits and flower petals. Inspired by the concept of finding commonalities between cultures the Sharbat trio incorporates elements from both the South Asian and African diaspora to present a colourful and inimitable blend of music. Featuring the sonorous singing of Samidha Joglekar, the incredible talent of multi-instrumentalist Waleed Abdulhamid and tabla virtuoso Ravi Naimpally, the Sharbat Trio create a unique tapestry of sound that is eclectic, rich and soulful. By embracing cross-cultural experiments Sharbat is etching a musical tradition of their own in the Canadian World music scene.
