Mandolin virtuoso Randal Hill (mandolin, guitar, vocals) brings his high-energy bluegrass-tinged acoustic sound to Artword Artbar, for a special concert. Accompanying Randal onstage are: Singer/songwriter Suzie Sweetman, always in demand back-up vocalist, and as you will see, an all-around “sparkplug”;
Johnny Frame, on rock-solid guitar and vocals, a long time member of the bluegrass and gospel music circuit; and John McNaughton, veteran bluegrass acoustic bassist (and fine vocalist) rounds out the group.
Randal Hill’s bio: A professional band leader and sideman ( for 33 years and counting ) in touring Canada, the U.S. and Europe. Randal is also an in-demand recording session musician. His wide range of styles include Bluegrass, Celtic, Rockabilly, Swing and Rock. A unique stylist on mandolin, banjo, acoustic and electric guitars.
Nine time winner of Canadian Bluegrass Mandolinist of the year. Randal has performed and/or recorded with Sylvia Tyson, Ian Thomas, Graham, Townsend, Prairie Oyster, Big Redd Ford, Tom Wilson, Mac Wiseman, Crooked Jack, Willie P. Bennett, Garnet Rogers, Colleen Petersen, Caitlin Hanford, etc. Randal€™s superb musicanship mixed with his different sense of humour makes for an entertaining show.
